Build your business with Ons Soort Makelaars

Become an estate agent without experience: prepare your move

Moving into real estate from another profession starts with understanding the work. You will support important decisions while building a business. Enthusiasm matters, alongside careful work and continued learning.

Understand the day-to-day work

There is more to the job than viewings. You talk to clients, collect information, maintain records, follow up appointments and find instructions.

Experience in sales, service or planning may help. Identify your strengths and the areas where you need guidance, including negotiation and handling questions beyond your knowledge.

Prepare a learning and practice plan

Discuss the knowledge, education and requirements relevant to your intended work before starting. OSM tool training, practical guidance, external qualifications and registration are different things; one does not automatically replace another.

A useful plan includes preparing a conversation, reviewing a file, receiving feedback and gradually taking responsibility. Ask how support can be arranged for you.

Your checklist

  • Describe your transferable skills.
  • Make time for learning and business development.
  • Discuss supervised practical work.
  • Budget for your transition.

Set realistic expectations

How much time can you invest, and when does your business need to provide income? Bring these questions and your preferred region to the introduction.

We explain the model and demonstrate our tools. Prices and revenue contributions are discussed in the brochure and meeting so you can make an informed choice.

Frequently asked questions

Can I meet OSM if I am not yet an agent?

Yes. Tell us about your background and plans. We discuss your preparation and support needs and explore a suitable route.

Does guidance replace a real estate qualification?

No. Practical support, tool training, external education and registration are separate elements. Discuss which apply to your intended work.
